Gouache is a fun and versatile medium for studies, plein air work, and even studio paintings. You can use it thin like watercolor or thick like oil or acrylic – or both! Cleanup is a snap, making it fabulous for travel.
In this interactive two-day workshop, you’ll learn to confidently use gouache in your own painting adventures. We’ll start off with some exercises to understand gouache’s qualities and quirks, and then you’ll use what you’ve learned to create small paintings.
Topics Include:
Managing values (gouache looks different when it dries!)
Getting the right paint consistency
Mixing colors
Creating layers and textures
Keeping things fresh and loose
Tools and equipment, both in the studio and plein air
