“Loss is often confusing. We may search for answers as well as comfort. These paintings evolved as an attempt to describe the journey of finding beauty and hope in confusion and restriction. In my own experience at such times, I have found my senses are heightened. I notice a profusion of Poppies that seem to burst forth from the cracks in the sidewalk. Despite the restriction of its surroundings, a seed takes root. In the eye of a storm the birds swing and sway with the wind and the waves. Such resilience!” - Carol Komater
