Ignited by Janelle Allen
A vivid oil painting depicting a cactus engulfed in flame. Thick oil textures and layered color create movement in the flames and light. The piece explores resilience in harsh conditions and the quiet strength found in survival. 24 x 36 inches.
CAUSE: Forest and Ecosystem recovery from wildfire and climate stress Community Wildfire Resilience Coalition
ARTIST STATEMENT: My work centers on resilience, how strength and vulnerability coexist in the human spirit and in nature. I use vivid color, layered oils, and textured surfaces to translate emotion into form. Cacti, florals, and women appear throughout my work as symbols of endurance, beauty, and transformation. Through texture and light, I aim to capture the tension between power and fragility. "Ignited" with its burning cactus reflects the persistence of life and color even in the face of adversity. Painting for me is a process of renewal, a way to turn struggle into strength and to find beauty within endurance. My practice celebrates the fight and the will to remain vibrant, rooted, and alive.
