The Moon Saints VIII by Geri X
Newsprint, gold foil gilding paint, acrylic, pencil, pen. 8 × 10 inches. The Moon Saints series is an ongoing body of work I began in early 2025, currently consisting of 12 pieces and working toward a total of 24. Inspired by Orthodox iconography, the figures are regurgitated through my own imagination into martyrs and angels pulling one another up—some have lost their sight, some their hearing, and some their voices. The idea has always been for each piece to exist on its own while also playing a key role in something much larger. Eventually, all 24 will come together across an entire wall as one complete piece—each figure connected to, and dependent upon, the others.
