11. Rosa Parks — Civil rights activist in Montgomery, Alabama, best known for her refusal to move from her bus seat in defiance of Jim Crow segregation laws
CAUSE: Appalachian Herb Collective, which is a collaboration of herbalists from Western North Carolina, offering free herbal mutual-aid hubs and hosting clinics to support health issues related to Hurricane Helene in Asheville, NC. Appalachian Herb Collective
ARTIST STATEMENT: I paint to celebrate the radiant spectrum of human identity and the sacredness of the natural world—both of which capitalism seeks to commodify, exploit, and erase. My practice is rooted in anti-capitalist values: I reject the notion that art must conform to market demands or institutional gatekeeping. Instead, I create as an act of liberation, community care, and ecological reverence. I believe in art that lives outside galleries—on protest signs, in zines, on kitchen walls—where it can nourish, provoke, and inspire.
