Stripped Down  by Carla Fairchild

$105.00

Painting on Canvas  16x20x1 inches. Complex regional pain syndrome, or CRPS, formally known as reflux, sympathetic dystrophy(RSD), is a progressive disease of the  autonomic nervous system. The pain is characterized as constant, extremely intense, and out of proportion to the original injury. 19 years ago when I was in a bounce house, I sprained my right ankle. I was diagnosed with this horrendous condition. Every day is a challenge, but it’s a challenge I’ve taken on. Art gives me the avenue to express myself and to turn my pain into a purpose. CRPS is rented by the McGill pain index as the most painful form of chronic pain that exist today! Stripped down as a painting I did after spending several days in bed with extreme pain and spasms. Over the years with CRPS I’ve learned how to speak out and help spread awareness for this rare and progressive illness.

CAUSE: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome,  www.RSDHOPE.org

ARTIST STATEMENT: Art holds a special place in my heart. Living with a rare and progressive, chronic illness, called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or CRPS  has deeply shaped my life in my children’s. CRPS is ranked the highest form of chronic pain according to the McGill Pain Index. While there’s no cure, creating art has become my solace.
